Chad was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We had a sports court poured last summer and plan to hire him again next spring for a retaining wall and fire pit patio.

Footers and foundations in Ellensburg and the Kittitas Valley
Footings, stem walls and full foundations for homes, shops and pole barns. We dig the trench, set the steel, stand the forms and pour it, so one crew owns the hole and the concrete that goes in it.

We dig our own footing trenches. That is the whole reason this works: the excavation and the concrete are one contract, one schedule and one person to call when something needs deciding. Nobody is waiting on the other trade, and nobody is blaming them either.
Most of what we pour is residential and agricultural. House footings and stem walls, shop and pole barn piers, grade beams, frost walls, and the taller walls that come with building into a slope. We form with panel forms, cut and tie our own rebar, and bring a concrete pump in when the pour is downhill, behind a building or further than a chute will safely reach.
On Kittitas Valley ground the dig is half the job. Cobble and river rock sit under a thin layer of topsoil across a lot of the valley floor, and the uplands turn to hardpan. We cut to bearing, over-excavate and replace where the soil will not hold, compact the base, and keep the forms square and braced so the framer who shows up next has a true, level wall to build on.
We travel for foundation work. One of the reviews on this site is from a homeowner several hours from Ellensburg, and that is a normal week for us.

Reviews
The foundation Chad did for me was a few hours from his home town and it went flawless.
Christopher SchoenikeChad, owner of CKW Construction, did several small projects for me and was outstanding from start to finish. He was available on short notice, completed the work quickly, and went above and beyond. He is very capable, reasonably priced, and did an excellent job. I called him amazing—and I meant it. Highly recommended.
Sarah NortonI came away with a wonderful impression after this encounter. The friendly attitude and considerate approach made a noticeable difference, and I appreciated how naturally the conversation progressed.

Questions we get on footers and foundations
Do you dig the footings, or do I need a separate excavator?
We dig them. CKW runs the excavator and pours the concrete, so the trench, the base, the steel, the forms and the pour are all one contract. On most foundation jobs that removes a week of coordination and the finger pointing that comes with it.
Can you pour where a mixer truck cannot reach?
Yes. We bring in a concrete pump when the pour is downhill, behind a building, or too far from anywhere a loaded truck can safely set up. It costs more than a chute pour and it is usually cheaper than the alternatives.
